American film actor who starred in the 1951 Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Strangers on a Train, and also appeared in The Clock with Judy Garland. He was credited in the 1987 film, Throw Momma from the Train.

His parents divorced when he was a child, and his aunt supported his budding interest in acting by paying for his training at New York’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

He was plagued by mental illness and alcoholism for most of his life, and he died tragically at age thirty-two from the combined effects of alcohol and amobarbital.
